Irene Bloom is the Anne Whitney Olin Professor Emerita in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures. She holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Her interests are in Chinese philosophy and human rights studies. She chaired the department from 1993 until her retirement in 2002.
