Email account:
Barnard student email (and eBear) accounts expire according to this chart:
Student responsibility
Permanent email "forwarding" is available to Barnard Alumnae. This does not mean that the emails currently in your student account will be moved to your new email address. You must move these messages yourself before the student email account is terminated. See Alumnae Online at: http://www.barnard.edu/alum/benefits/index.html
AT responsibility
Provide information on AT and Resnet sites. Graduating students are handled by Residential Computing through the end of June. On July 1, these problems are assigned to the Help Desk.
Supply basic guidelines to alums about protecting their computers. See Mandatory Computer Setup for Visitors to Barnard at http://www.barnard.edu/resnet/mandatory.html
Symantec Anti Virus is provided to current students at Barnard. You should purchase a subscription to cover your computer (unless this is available from an employer.) The price now includes 12 months of protection updates and new product features as available throughout the year. http://www.symantec.com. THere are other anti-virus products. If you switch to a different program, be sure to uninstall the SYmantec program before you install the new one.
Alumnae Affairs responsibility
Advise students about setting up the forwarding avccount
MINS responsibility
Registrar responsibility
eBear access
MET Notes We have observed that our students don't understand that:
From our side, we would like to set up an aggressive education program (in April?). Columbia states that "About three months after your graduation, you will be able to register for e-mail forwarding." http://alumni.columbia.edu/access/s2_2.html . When can our students set up their Barnard forwarding accounts?
