Computing Services for Barnard Alumnae

Barnard Email account:
  • Your Barnard student email account is terminated when you graduate. Details at: http://www.barnard.columbia.edu/at/StuAccts.html
  • Access to eBear is terminated at the same time.
  • You are responsible for moving your existing Barnard student email messages to another email account.
  • Free email accounts are available from a number of web sites (Yahoo, Google, etc.).

Email Forwarding: You can establish a permanent email forwarding address through the Alumnae Office.   See Alumnae Online at: http://www.barnard.edu/alum/benefits/index.html  This does not mean that the emails currently in your student account will be sent to your new email address. You must move these messages yourself - before the student email account is terminated.

Access to eBear:   Access to eBear is terminated when your Barnard email account ends.   To order a copy of your transcript, see the Registrar's page: http://www.barnard.columbia.edu/registrar/TRANSC.HTM.

Access to the Internet and email: Alumnae are welcome to use the computers in the Vagelos Center or the Library to search the Internet or read their web-based email accounts. A reference librarian can provide basic introductory training in online research skills; prior arrangement is necessary.

Access to word processing: The computer labs in the Residence Halls are reserved for residents of those buildings. The LCC and West Wing are reserved for current undergraduates and faculty of Barnard and Columbia. The DIANA T. VAGELOS '55 AND P. ROY VAGELOS ALUMNAE CENTER houses two fully functioning workstations (Internet and Microsoft Office).

Auditing courses:  Check the Barnard Alumnae web site.  Barnard auditors are welcome to use the print materials on reserve in the Library.  They do not have access to CourseWorks.

Printing:  In order to print from the Library's public pcs, Alumnae must purchase pages (at $.10/page). Pages may be purchased online via credit card; a University Network ID is required.  Visit the Library Information Office in 201 Butler to obtain your UNI, http://www.columbia.edu/acis/facilities/printers/purchase.html

General Computing Advice: By appointment, AT staff are available for brief consultations about computing issues. Please call or write: Mary Ellen Tucker '68 212-854-6933, mtucker@barnard.edu
