Special folders on
Artemis
1) Some
departments need a folder for files used by Barnard student employees. All
full-time staff members will automatically be able to view the student folder.
2)
In special cases,
a group of faculty or staff may need a
special folder
for a project or program. This can permit users in different
departments to share files.
Each folder needs
a "Shepherd" who will:
- notify the Help Desk when to add or
delete users
- We can send you a list of members
to review.
- Each folder needs one Shepherd.
The Help Desk can not make decisions about who has access to a folder.
- All members of a folder have full
access to all files in that folder.
- monitor the amount of free space in
the folder
- control the files in this folder:
- decide what content should be in
the folder
- organize the subfolders
- identify and delete dated
material
- educate members about the files
in the folder. If the folder has sensitive information, you want
to be sure that the members do not copy files to their local hard
drives.
- notify Help Desk if the folder can be
deleted (i.e. if the project is completed)
The Help Desk
- can see that a folder exists
- can see who are the members of that
folder
- can not see the names of files or any
content in the folder
- can not add or delete files
