Email explanations: Life with two
email accounts

Issue A: Barnard Professor needs to send Barnard
email from home.
Option 1: hybrid configuration 101 for
home desktop
- set up incoming server as BC
- set up outgoing server as Columbia
- be sure to associate correct user name
and password with incoming and outgoing (Outlook Express allows you to select which account
to SEND FROM)
- use CU to send all messages
(including those sent from on-campus) to avoid having two sent mail folders
Option 2: hybrid configuration 202 for
home desktop
- set up incoming server as BC
- set up outgoing server as ISP provider
- be sure to associate correct user name
and password with incoming and outgoing ( (Outlook Express allows you to select which account
to SEND FROM)
- you will have two sent mail folders
since messages sent from on campus will be sent with Barnard outgoing server

laptop

Note: Class of '05 can not forward to Columbia
because they do not have an inbox there.
Issue F: Barnard student wants to set up
vacation message
No options. You can set up a vacation
message for CU account. The vacation message is triggered only by messages
received there directly - not those forwarded from Barnard.
