Job Title

Graduate Assistant

Function Serve as Evening / Weekend Manager for the department.   Supervise operations of Computer Labs.   Record phone and email requests from Faculty, Staff and students.

Qualifications Enrollment as a graduate student in an accredited college or university. Technical skills in the following areas:  Microsoft Office products, email programs and printer support.

Terms of Employment

Begins August 1 and ends May 31.    

Hours Worked

Semester Launch 30 hours a week

  • August 1 - through beginning of classes

  • January 2 - through beginning of classes 

Academic year through end of finals  average 17 hours a week (alternating 22 hours / 12 hours); GAs split the operating hours, file schedule with Manager,  and cover absences for one another.  

  • Mon, Tues, Wed,  & Thurs  =  6 pm – midnight

  • Sat  12 noon to 5 pm

  • Sunday = 4 pm to 9 pm (Senior student will run lab from 1 pm to 4 pm)

 End of finals through May 31:  15 hours a week 

 

The Computer Center follows the schedule of the Library.  Holidays are rare.

 


Duties

Supervise operation of the Lehman Computer Center on weekends and evenings. 

  • Mon - Thurs:  Be in the LCC from 6 p.m. to midnight.   

  • Sat. :   Open the LCC at noon, be in the LCC until closing at 5 p.m.

  • Sun. :  Be in the LCC from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  (LCC will be opened at 1 p.m. by Senior Student)

The LCC supervision is not optional.  The Graduate Assistants must be willing and able to cover these hours.
