Thank you for assisting us in the migration to the new server. Here is the information you need to expedite this upgrade for your department.
Who needs an account on Artemis?
We will send you a list of existing Novell accounts for your department. Please review these and divide them into three groups:
Permanent staff - keep these accounts .
These people no longer work at Barnard - delete these accounts.
Generic department account - this account has been used by student employees and temporary employees.
Please send this information back to the Help Desk.
You may have permanent staff members who do not have Novell accounts now. If they need to store files on the new server, please send us a list of their names.
Generic accounts eliminated.
These accounts will be replaced by individual accounts for student employees and temporary employees.
MINS will create a "Shared Student Folder" for documents that will be used by student and temporary employees.
These users will not have personal folders on the server.
Please send us the names of the employees who need access to this new directory.
Do you have documents and files stored in your generic account?
YES: If you know the password to the generic account, please inspect these files and tell us where to place these on Artemis. The most common answer is in the "Shared Student Folder".
MAYBE: If you do not know password for the generic account, we will ask MINS to place these directories (maintaining current folder names) inside the Department Head's personal drive.
If you need to add and delete accounts for student and temporary employees, please send an email to the Help Desk.
Please note, you do not need an account on Artemis for network printing. Artemis is only used to store files.
