Frequently asked questions about the
migration to the new server named Artemis:
On my department's Migration Day, I am
scheduled for the new Novell set-up at 2 p.m. Can I use my computer during
the morning?
Yes, just click on Workstation Only
at the log in screen.
There are two separate logins
at your computer: the
Workstation login and the Novell login.
You can
"sync" these passwords to allow you to log into both at
the same time.
How often will I have to change my password?
Passwords must be changed every 6
months. You can not re-use any password from the previous 24
months.
I forgot my password. Who can
help me?
Call the Help Desk. We will
ask MINS to reset your password and then we will assist you in selecting
a new password.
How long will shared files be
unavailable?
The department's files will be
"locked" at 4 p.m. on the day before Migration
Day.
Our team will visit your department
the following morning to install the new software and to assist you in
changing your password. We rely on the Department Coordinator to
set priorities among users.
Does this migration period affect my
access to other services?
The following services are on other
servers, not Artemis or Athena. They will not be affected by this
migration:
eBear (including your
department budget)
email
Oracle calendar (formerly
Corporate Time)
Access to the Internet is not
affected.
Network printing does not require
access to Artemis
When will MY department move to
Artemis?
With a few exceptions, we are
moving the faculty first.
Scheduling is our largest
problem. We need at least two weeks lead time to review the current
accounts and put your department into the pipeline.
If you want to move your department
soon, please call the Help Desk.
