Novell server:  Barnard Faculty and selected staff members have accounts on Artemis.  This server is maintained by MINS in order to permit  file sharing among Barnard staff members as well as a secure location for your working files.  Artemis is backed up daily.  

• Individual users have 150MB of space
• Departments have 1GB of space

Email servers: Other options for storing files include

• Student = personal account on the Eclipse server   350 MB
• Faculty and Staff = personal accounts on the BC server: 500 MB

MINS sends email Over Quota reports to users when they exceed their limits on Eclipse and BC.  If you exceed the storage limit by more than 10 MB on these servers, you will not receive new email messages.    See http://www.barnard.columbia.edu/at/Email.html for additional information.

Barnard web server for departmental pages:   At this time, there is no disk quota for 'web' accounts.  However, this does not mean that we have unlimited disk space. To avoid the need to impose limits in the future, we need everyone's cooperation in exercising good judgment about the number and size of files included on a site, cleaning up any 'dead' pages, etc.

The Help Desk can provide training on:

• copying older files from a server to a CD-ROM  (a CD-ROM can hold 750 MB)
• moving files via FTP from a server to your local computer
• organizing your files on the servers or your computer
