Barnard computing accounts for students When she matriculates, a new Barnard
student receives an account on our "eclipse" server. A letter
with information about the new account is mailed to her in early June.
This account provides:
New Barnard students can activate their Barnard email accounts at this URL: http://www.barnard.edu/resnet/newstu.html
Barnard students are expected to use their Barnard email accounts on campus. The eclipse server (i.e. the Barnard student e-mail server) has a virus filter to protect your workstation from most problems.
Students use the same user name and password to log into webmail and eBear. If you have a problem logging into eBear, see http://www.barnard.columbia.edu/at/eBearPage.htm
All Barnard students have extended Columbia accounts so they can use the Columbia student computing labs and print on campus. This account also provides "authorization" to use most on-line resources available on the Barnard/Columbia Library System. Barnard students have the same print quota as Columbia undergraduates.
In addition, this account (called a UNI) authorizes access into CourseWorks, the online course management system. Barnard students must activate their UNI accounts online at: http://www.columbia.edu/acis/accounts/create/.
After graduation
Barnard student email and eBear accounts expire according to this chart:
For more information about this transition and how to set up Alumnae Email Forwarding, see the Resnet site, http://www.barnard.edu/resnet/emailgraduate.html. For other Alumnae computing services, see http://www.barnard.columbia.edu/at/Alumnae.html
After you leave Columbia, your Columbia account will go through several status changes before finally expiring. See http://www.columbia.edu/acis/faq/236.html for details.
