College Activities Office guide for Student club web sites
Club requests web site on the Barnard server and names a Web Site Manager.
CAO assesses that this is an official club and authorizes web site. Text for email to Academic Tech at http://barnard.edu/at/SampleTextsOther.html
AT requests account set up with MINS. Informs CAO advisor when account is ready. Accounts are usually created within 48 hours. Later, AT will create a redirect from WWW to Eclipse.
CAO advisor:
Gives account name and password to Web Site Manager. This person should understand this responsibility and guard password.
Records account name and password.
Knows location of source files for this club web site.
Recommends that club make appointment with Akinyi Okoth for review of publishing procedures and appropriate backup of source files.
Reviews web site periodically.
Refers student to the College Computer Use policy at: http://www.barnard.columbia.edu/at/comppolicy.html. The College is serious about copyright restrictions.
Club Web Site Manager informs Advisor of any changes in web production staff.

The Educational Technology Center is located on the ground level of Lehman Hall. It provides advanced computing support to faculty and staff. Barnard student clubs have access to this lab by appointment for training and troubleshooting related to club web site production. The ETC has additional scanners, PhotoShop and other software. |
