Procedure for Barnard Email

Faculty and staff  who are leaving Barnard often request a special arrangement for their email accounts.

Suggested method:  People writing to the former Barnard email user would receive a message similar to this:

Subject:  "Barnard College Admissions Office alert"

Body of message:   "To reach the Admissions Office at Barnard College, please send your email to admissions@barnard.edu or call 212-555-6789.
If you are writing directly to Sheila Smith, a former employee of the Barnard College Admissions Office, her current email address is smith99@yahoo.net"

The email account would not be deleted for one month. This vacation message would stay in place for one month.

Procedure: 

• Two weeks before the scheduled departure, the Department Chair notifies Human Resources to keep this email account active for one month. 
• If this request is approved, HR adjusts employee's record to extend email account.
• Academic Technologies advises user to create vacation message with this text through eBear.
