Faculty Workshop 2007

We will be
hosting our annual workshops for Faculty on May
1, 2, 3 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Please register
early so that the Help Desk can install tools on your computer that you will need during the sessions – you will be connecting to your own computer
for some of the sessions.
Lunch
will be provided each day. Don't forget to indicate if you
would like a Kosher or vegetarian meal.
All sessions will be held in
room 401 Altschul.
Day 1: CourseWorks

10:30 - 11:45 CourseWorks Introduction: getting ready for the
Fall semester, creating a Syllabus, Lectures and Assignments,
Discussion Board, Group email.

12:15 - 1:30 Setting up advanced CourseWorks features: Test
and Quiz, Survey, Grade book, Podcasts, Migration

1:45 - 3:00 PDF creation, image editing, documents with
embedded images
Day 2: Wikis, Podcasts, PowerPoint

10:30 - 11: 45 Wikis: why are they useful, how do they work.
Hands on session.

12: 15 - 1:30 Listserv, Podcasting and Blogs. Learn how to create
a podcast

1:45 - 3:00 PowerPoint and Articulate: Online presentation
software.
Day 3: Computer nomads, Security, Laptop tips

10:30 - 11: 45 Computer Nomads: Online bookmarking, Your USB key and
Portable applications, Instant messenger options, Firefox extensions

12: 15 - 1:30 Personal life tools: Hop Stop, Google notebook, Google
calendar

1:45 - 3:00 Desktop / Laptop security, PC PhoneHome,
remote access, laptop clinic
