Faculty Positions

MICROBIOLOGY: TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Biological Sciences at Barnard College , Columbia University , seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor (starting July 2009) to participate in undergraduate teaching and establish an active, externally funded research program that investigates any aspect of the biology of microbes. Teaching responsibilities include advanced lecture and laboratory courses in microbial diversity, participation in the Introductory Biology sequence, and organization of a senior seminar in an area of interest to the successful candidate. Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience is required; teaching experience is desirable.

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences (Neuroscience)

Barnard College is seeking an individual to teach a laboratory course in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, during the Spring semester of 2009. Applicants should have acquired a Ph.D. prior to January 2009. Prior teaching experience is preferable, but not required. Barnard is a liberal arts college for women affiliated with Columbia University in New York. Student Positions

Teaching Assistants

Teaching Assistants are needed for Introductory Biology Courses BC1001 and BC2003.  Responsibilities include assisting students during lab time and attending a one-hour preparation meeting on Friday afternoons.  Students who have taken these courses or their equivalents are preferred. Student Assistants

Student Assistants (both work-study and non-work study) are needed to assist the Director of Introductory Biology Labs with the set-up and clean-up of weekly lab courses.  Tasks include but are not limited to the cleaning of glassware, making of solutions, and preparation of culture plates.  Students majoring in biology or a related field are preferred, but applicants with other majors are also invited to apply.  Flexible hours.
