BARNARD LEADERSHIP
INITIATIVE
CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMMING
Offered through Career Development
Three Learning from Leaders series of events complement and augment the BLI curriculum:

LEARNING FROM LEADERS
SPEAKER SERIES
One of the goals of BLI is to provide opportunities for Barnard students to learn from women currently working in the non-profit, private, and public sectors, including politics. Each semester a series of lectures is given by a variety of successful women, with representation from Barnard alumnae to whom students have easy access. A closed-door discussion between the speaker and students follows each presentation.
LEARNING FROM LEADERS
OFF-CAMPUS EVENTS
Students have the opportunity to attend relevant events organized by external organizations, with necessary expenses including attendance fees and accommodations covered by BLI.
Barnard’s involvement in events throughout the city and with other colleges and organizations lays the foundation for a strong network of personal and institutional contacts in NYC and the surrounding area. These connections include the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee, Crain’s New York Business, The Goldman Sachs Group Inc., and many more.
LEARNING FROM LEADERS
SKILLS AND AWARENESS EVENTS
Co-curricular skills and awareness events complement the series of academic offerings, internship opportunities, public lectures, and events presented through the leadership program. These events give students the opportunity to work closely with an instructor and a small group of other interested students to discuss and develop concepts and skills vital for success. Sample events include workshops on Difficult Workplace Conversations, Op Ed Writing, Public Speaking and Cross Cultural Communications.
