Fellowship Opportunities

This listing of awards is necessarily partial, and students should therefore be sure to consult a range of additional sources, including some of the basic references listed in the bibliography on page 21 and the collection of materials on individual awards in the Office of Career Development. Also, interested students should consider attending the series of workshops on proposal- and personal-statement writing that I will be offering this fall. I hope that students who apply for any of the awards listed here will approach the undertaking in a spirit of inquiry. Working with Barnard's scholarship and fellowship applicants over the last several years has shown me that the process ideally presents candidates with an excellent opportunity to examine, develop, and focus their interests and goals. Regardless of the outcome, then, students who fully open themselves to this opportunity for learning should find the application experience to be useful and rewarding.
