CourseWorks Essentials
About Courseworks:
CourseWorks is the university-wide
Course Management System for faculty and students.
Faculty use this to
• publish course information and content
• communicate with students via bulletin boards and e-mail lists
• maintain digital assets (text, slides, video and audio)
• deliver and receive files (such as readings and assignments)
• manage group projects
• maintain an archive of past courses
CourseWorks is a simple, web based publishing environment that
allows you to quickly post materials just before a class begins. It
does not require any programming skills.
For students, CourseWorks serves as a single point of entry for all
of their course information and content, including links to digital
library reserve materials, a calendar they can use to track
assignments and deadlines, bulletin boards and groups for which they
are registered, and announcements from their instructors.
The Educational Technologies team is available to:
• provide an introduction to CourseWorks
• explain the advanced features including Discussion Boards and
Program Evaluation
• troubleshoot any problems encountered
• consult about the best tools available for your particular need
When you log into CourseWorks, you will see a list of the courses
you are teaching this semester. If your courses are not listed,
please let us know immediately.
Barnard students who have filed their programs are already listed in
the appropriate class rosters. New students (and returning students
who have updated their programs) will be added to the class rosters
after Barnard's program filing period closes.
