Changing Novell and PINE Passwords

Your new password must:

• contain at least 6 characters
• contain at least two alphabetic characters
• contain at least one numeric or special character
• be a combination of letters and numbers
  e.g. pa55word, barnard1, 1hungrY

Remember, passwords are case sensitive! In other words, Hungr2y and hUngr2y and hungr2y are all different passwords.

Windows 2000, Windows XP and Novell (Athena) Passwords:

Hold down the Control, Alt and Delete keys simultaneously, and the following window will pop up:

Click on "Change Password..." and in the next window select the account in which you would like to change the password:

Type the old and new passwords as prompted.

Barnard Email Password:

To change the password to your BC account, open Secure Shell Telnet Client (SSH Secure Shell) and log onto to your email account.

At the $ prompt, type passwd and press enter. You will see the following: 
passwd:changing password for {yourusername}
Enter login password:

Type your current password, and press enter. You will be prompted to enter a new password, so type it in and press enter. This new password needs to be different from your old password in at least three positions/characters and have a number within the first six characters. Your new password will be effective after you will are asked to confirm it.
