CourseWorks Workshops Fall 2007
Academic Technologies will hold CourseWorks workshops for faculty

Location: Room 11, Lehman Hall,

Time: 12:15pm - 1:15pm

We will demonstrate CourseWorks during the hour and hold help sessions after.

Annual Faculty Technology Workshops 2007
We will be holding our annual workshops for faculty on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Please register early so that the Help Desk can install tools on your computer that you will need during the sessions.

 

Lunch will be provided each day. The sessions will be held in room 401 Altschul

Faculty Technology Workshops 2006
We will be holding our annual workshops for faculty on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

May 2, 2006
Session 1: 12:00-1pm

  • Opening lunch and remarks from the Dean of Information Services - Information Services De-mystified

  • CourseWorks Introduction:getting ready for the Fall semester, creating a Syllabus, Lectures and Assignments in CourseWorks

 

Session 2: 1pm-2pm

  • Setting up advanced CourseWorks features: Test and Quiz, Survey, Grade book, Discussion Board, Group email.

  • Sakai: an introduction to the open source project.

 

Session 3: 2pm-3pm

  • CLIO advanced and interactive features: Power Searching, Online requests, Your Bookbag, Saved Searches

  • RefWorks and Endnote: Web based bibliographic software packages


May 3, 2006
Session 4: 12:00 -1pm

  • PowerPoint Basics: Creating presentations with PowerPoint. This is a hands-on session, please bring your favorite images or text on your USB key – call x 40445 for more info

 

Session 5: 1pm - 2pm

  • PowerPoint: Demonstration of tips and tricks, adding media rich content to your presentations. Introduction to Articulate to embed synchronized narration.

 

Session 6: 1pm - 2pm

  • Media Services:This introduction to Media Services will cover how to arrange technology support in the classroom, including screening of DVDs, Powerpoint presentations, videotaping of lectures, as well as, how Media Services can help instructors and students utilize multimedia technology for instructional projects. A tour of Sloate Media Center and
    the Public Media Area will be accompanied by description of viewing, listening, and
    audio/video/web production resources.

 

May 4, 2006

Session 7: 12:00 -1pm

  • Creating and publishing your personal webpage using FrontPage and Secure FTP. This will be a hands on session, bring a C.V., photo and any other material for content. For an example see http://bc.barnard.columbia.edu/~crojas/

 

Session 8: 1pm - 2pm

  • Podcasts: An Introduction

  • Wikis: see what everyone is talking about. Introduction followed by hands-on experience on our Educational Technology wikis

 

Session 9: 2pm - 3pm

  • Email Clinic: Spam, email filters, quotas, email clients
