The Admissions office seeks a Senior
Admissions Officer reporting to the Dean of Admissions. The
individual will coordinate Barnard’s Summer in New York
programs, including marketing, developing course content,
faculty hiring, evaluation, and providing administrative
direction for Barnard’s Pre-College Program. Summer in New
York is a series of pre-college programs for bright, highly
motivated young women and men who have completed the tenth
or eleventh grade and who are intellectually prepared for
college-level work. The four-week program and two one-week
programs typically enroll approximately l50 to 165 students
from all over the United States and from many different
foreign countries. The individual will work collaboratively
with the Dean of Students in the Pre-College Program.
General admissions responsibilities will
include promoting the College to prospective students and
their families and interpreting the admissions policies and
procedures, conducting interviews and information sessions,
planning and coordinating high school outreach programs, and
participating in application review and selection.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree from a liberal arts
institution and previous experience in selective college or
university admissions, preferably 3 or more years is
required. Excellent oral and written communication, reading
and public speaking, time management, and organizational
skills as well as computer literacy are also required. An
understanding of the values of a liberal arts education for
women and the ability to articulate these values effectively

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST
