NEW
YORK, N.Y., March 9, 2001 - Two web sites - Seventeen.com
and msn.com - are praising Barnard for the College's
location, attributes and "very New York" student
body.
The msn.com web site in its Encarta
College Prep section highlights Barnard as
one of "Ten Great College Campuses."
The listing for Barnard, derived from The Princeton
Review, says, "Barnard is an all-women's college
located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan right
across the street from the Ivy League's own Columbia
University. Barnard's 'extremely ambitious, independent,'
and 'very New York' students enjoy the luxury
of their own 'small and intimate' classes and
they can take any course offered at Columbia as
well. The one and only Martha Stewart is an alum."
At Seventeen.com in the School and College section,
Barnard is highlighted in a Campus
Insider feature.
The
article by Jennifer Parris describes the student
body as "a mix of intelligent and outspoken women"
and quotes one student saying: "If you're not
a self-starter when you get here, you will be
when you leave."
