C-Span to Broadcast on March 17 Barnard Panel
Discussion on Future of Feminism
NEW
YORK, N.Y. -- C-Span will broadcast C-Span will
broadcast on Saturday night a conference at Barnard
on The Future of Feminism, featuring an introduction
by President Shapiro and a talk by Gloria Steinem.
The
broadcast will be at 9:14 p.m. Saturday, March
17, and repeated later that night at 12:14 a.m.,
Sunday, March 18.It features opening remarks by
President Judith Shapiro and introduction of the
guests by Laura Smith, director of the Barnard
Counselling Services.
The
March 7 discussion titled A
Feminism for All Women: Addressing Issues of Race,
Culture, and Class, also included four young,
feminists -- Lebwah Sykes, Vivien Laboton, Mia
Herndon and Angela Moreno -- associated with the
Third Wave Foundation. The event was part of the
MindOpeners Series.
This
is the second event covered by C-Span at Barnard
in the past month. On Feb. 17 and 18, C-Span2's
BookTV featured a reading by Joan Didion with
introductions by President Shapiro, and Professors
Mary Gordon and Caryl Phillips.
