Barnard Store Open for Business in New Location

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Following an opening celebration on March 21, the Barnard Store is open for business in its new locationon the ground floor of Sulzberger Hall with an expanded stock of Barnardiana.

To the accompaniment of a jazz band, dozens of students, faculty and staff stood in line Wednesday to buy armfuls of T-shirts, Barnard bears, Barnard pins and lanyards on sale. The event, which included a welcome by Dean of the College Dorothy Denburg, also marked the re-opening of the adjacent Quad Lounge.

"This was a terrific success - everyone was very happy with it," said Elayne Garrett, senior associate director in the Office of Career Development, who advises the store managers.

Manager Ravina Sandhu, BC '01, in cooperation with the Office of Residential Life, College Activities Office, and Office of Career Development, said the event was designed to thank those who helped make the new location of the store a reality.

Manager-in-training Jaime Wesker, BC '04 said: "The Barnard Store is here for everyone involved with the College. With this new location, we have been able to create a permanent source of pride for Barnard."

The Store is carrying new items, including books by both Barnard faculty and alumnae, as well as business card holders, portfolios, silver keychains, and Barnard College wallets. Traditional items, such as the Barnard Tee, classic crew sweatshirt, and Barnard teddy bears, are available, as always.
