EXPLORING ETHNIC NEIGHBORHOODS
In
order to enhance our exposure to the multicultural
flavor of NYC, the Office of Multicultural Affairs
and College Activities are sponsoring a series
of trips to ethnic enclaves around the city.
The first two will be on April 12 to Crown Heights'
Hasidic and Black (African American and Caribbean)
neighborhood, and on April 26 to Jackson Heights'
South Asian neighborhood.
April 12, 9am-2pm: In Crown Heights we will
take a guided tour (by the Hasidic Discovery
Center), visit the Crown Heights Youth Collective,
and have lunch at a neighborhood restaurant.
April 26, 9am-2pm: In the Jackson Heights trip
we will visit a Hindu Temple, walk through and
shop on 74th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, and
eat at a neighborhood restaurant.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs And College
Activities will pay for transportation, lunch
and tour fees. We can only take 15 students
on each trip, and those students will be selected
on first come first serve basis. You can sign
up in the Office of Multicultural Affairs, 210
McIntosh, on or after March 24, 2002.
