New
York, NY May 3, 2002After nearly a month with a transition
team in place, the new Director of Facilities at Barnard
College has arrived. Timothy B. Mohrmann stepped in to replace
Suzanne Gold after she received a promotion within her company,
ARAMARK, which is responsible for all facilities management
on campus.
Mohrmann has been with ARAMARK since 1997. He comes to Barnard
after serving as Director of Facilities at The American
Museum of Natural History. In that capacity, he was responsible
for the daily operation of the 1.6 million gross square
foot, 23-building complex and directed a staff of 60 tradesmen
and seven supervisors. He also oversaw the capital program
that recently completed the Rose Center, a world-class planetarium
surrounded by interactive exhibits and meeting, conference
and administrative office space.
Before he was Director of Facilities, he directed a number
of technical projects at The American Museum of Natural
History and at Rockefeller University. These projects included
a security program upgrade and managing the museum-wide
network-wiring program. He was also involved in the millennium
exhibit staging, Biodiversity Hall renovation, HVAC master
plan, and numerous space modification renovations and relocations.
Before ARAMARK, Mohrmann served as Maintenance Supervisor
at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY. While at Pace he
supervised university and contract maintenance personnel
and was directly responsible for high voltage upgrade and
connectivity projects; repair, alteration and operation
of 28 campus buildings; and coordination of in-house projects.
In addition, he was Evening Supervisor and Lead Electrician
at Nassau Community College where he supervised and inspected
all aspects of lighting, high voltage switch gear, generators,
panel boards, UPS, fire alarm systems, HVAC controls, aerial
lifts and trained personnel on standby generators, motor
control centers, high voltage switch gear, HID lighting,
tools, equipment, lock-out/tag-out procedures, NEC and OSHA
requirements.
"Im looking forward to working in the academic
community again," Mohrmann said. "Ive spent
most of my career in academic institutions and its
nice to be back after a short time away."
