New York, N.Y - Barnard College will honor Dina Dublon, Chief Financial Officer of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., and Bruce Gordon, President, Retail Markets Group, Verizon, for their civic and charitable contributions at the College's 16th Annual Awards Dinner, on Tuesday, May 13.

Dublon will be the recipient of The Iphigene Ochs Sulzberger Award, named for the late alumna, philanthropist and civic leader. Gordon will receive The Frederick A.P. Barnard Award, named for the tenth president of Columbia University, an early proponent of women's education, and the College's namesake.

"We are pleased to honor these two corporate leaders, both recognized among the most powerful U.S. business executives by Fortune magazine, who have made significant contributions to corporate America and the U.S. economy," said Barnard President Judith Shapiro. "Dina Dublon's financial acumen and innovative thinking have helped J.P. Morgan Chase become a recognized global banking industry leader. Bruce Gordon successfully runs Verizon's retail markets operation, the biggest business for the nation's largest phone company. With the excellent leadership of our honorees and dinner chairs, we have already raised $1 million dollars in scholarships for Barnard students, and we hope to do even better."

Honorary Chairs for the event are Helene L. Kaplan, Of Counsel, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom L.L.P. and Barnard Trustee Emerita and Chair Emerita, and Eugene R. McGrath, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Consolidated Edison, Inc., and a Barnard Trustee. Serving as Dinner Chairs are James B. Lee, Jr., Vice Chairman of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., and Ivan G. Seidenberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Communications Inc.

The black-tie Annual Awards dinner will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf=Astoria with cocktails starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and dancing to the Michael Carney Orchestra. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anna Quindlen, the Newsweek columnist, Barnard alumna, and newly named Chair of the Barnard Trustees, will serve as the master of ceremonies. All proceeds will benefit the Barnard financial aid program.
