Prof. Mark Carnes and his Reacting to the Past Seminar

York, NY, August 13, 2002-- History Professor Mark Carnes
is the inventor of an innovative first-year program in which
students take on the persona of characters in history, from
politicians in ancient Greece to colonists in a Massachusetts
witch trial, with the goal of understanding upheavals in
history through the debates of the time. The Christian
Science Monitor on Tuesday, Aug. 13 featured an article
about a recent seminar on the Reacting to the Past project
in which Carnes gave 40 professors and students a training
session in the game.
