Acclaimed Writer and Barnard Professor Mary Gordon to Read from Her Upcoming Novel, Pearl, October 9

New York, NY, September 17, 2002—Novelist and Barnard professor Mary Gordon will read from her upcoming novel, Pearl, to be published in 2003. The reading will take place on October 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Sulzberger Parlor, 3rd floor Barnard Hall (117th St. & Broadway).

Gordon, Millicent C. McIntosh Professor of English, is the author of five highly acclaimed novels: Spending, Final Payments, The Company of Women, Men and Angels, and The Other Side. She has also written a book of short stories entitled Temporary Shelter, a book of essays entitled Good Boys and Dead Girls, and a collection of three novellas, The Rest Of Life. Her recent book-length memoir about her father, The Shadow Man, has been widely praised. She has also received the Lila Acheson Wallace-Reader's Digest Writer's Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
