Barnard Alum Beth Seidenberg named one of Fortune 's "5 Women to Watch"
The October 2004 edition of Fortune Magazine assesses the "50 Most Powerful Women in Business." As a sidebar, the magazine names five women to watch, listing among them Dr. Beth Seidenberg, BC '79.
Dr. Seidenberg, Senior Vice President of Development with Amgen, the world's largest independent biotechnology company, is the chief medical officer who "oversees the testing and clinical trials that bring new drugs to the market," says Fortune. "She pushed 22 new products or applications through the pipeline to regulatory approval worldwide last year."
Amgen's business plan is to help patients live longer and lead better lives through innovative research and therapeutics.
Dr. Seidenberg holds a bachelor's degree in biology/anthropology from Barnard College and a M.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed post-doctoral training in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins and Children's Hospital in Washington and adult specialization in allergy/immunology at the National Institutes of Health.
