Panel
on Public School Options Dec. 11
New
York, NY, December 4, 2002 Barnards Education
Department will host a panel discussion exploring public
school options in New York City with school administrators
and faculty-parents on Wednesday, December 11, 2002, 12-1
p.m. in The Spanish Room, 207 Milbank Hall (119th Street
and Broadway).
The panel will feature Barnard alumna Alisa Berger 94,
Principal of Mott Hall II Middle School, Principal Bob OBrien
of P.S. 75, and Barnard professors Tim Halpin-Healy and
Lesley Sharp. This discussion will be open to parents, Barnard
faculty and staff, and all others interested in finding
out about options for their children in the New York City
public school system.
Susan Sacks, Senior Lecturer of Education, who initiated
the event, said, "This is a great opportunity for our
colleagues at Barnard to hear about the application procedures
and programs in the neighborhood public schools from the
point of view of faculty, parents, and principals."
Professors Sharp and Halpin-Healy, both parents of children
in the New York City public schools, will share their experiences
in seeking schools for their children. Principals Berger
and OBrien will provide information about the application
processes for their schools and will answer general questions
about public school options in District 3.
