Barnard College Appoints Roberta Waterstone Albert Director of
Alumnae Affairs

August 18, 2000, NEW YORK, N.Y. -

Barnard College has appointed Roberta Waterstone Albert director of alumnae affairs, effective September 5, 2000.

Albert, a 1992 Barnard graduate, brings a strong background in management consulting, marketing and program management with cultural institutions and organizations.

Carol Herring, vice president of development and alumnae affairs, welcomed Albert and said: "We are very pleased Albert will join the college as the director of alumnae affairs. She possesses a great combination of devotion to the institution, poise, as well as extensive professional experience with the non-profit world. With her energetic and creative approach to program development, she will be able to further strengthen and expand connections between 26,000 Barnard alumnae and the college."

Albert's top priorities will include expanding Barnard's alumnae programs in the New York Metropolitan area, where approximately half of the college's graduates reside, and developing new ways to keep recent graduates across the country in touch with the college. She will also build class and regional programming in the United States and abroad, as well as career, young alumnae and other affinity networks. She will be responsible for further development of the alumnae affairs web site, including the establishment of the online alumnae community.

After graduating from Barnard in 1992, Albert has held various positions in cultural and educational program management and consulting with Galerie St. Etienne, New York (1992-96), Eldridge Street Project, New York (1996-97), Children's Museum of Manhattan, New York (1997-99), and most recently she has worked in management consulting capacity at AMS Planning and Research Corporation, Petaluma, CA, assisting non-profit organizations in identification and creation of strategic missions.

Albert received a master's degree in Arts Administration from Columbia University in 1997. She has been active member of the Barnard alumnae community and currently serves as vice president of her class of '92 and was co-founder of the Barnard mentorship program in the Bay Area of California.

Albert succeeds Lisa Cohen Liman, a 1983 Barnard graduate, who is leaving the position after seven years at Barnard and three years as director of alumnae affairs.
