OPPORTUNITIES

The name “Barnard” stands for so much: excellence in higher education, unwavering advancement of women, an extraordinary campus in the heart of an extraordinary city.

Now—philanthropically, tangibly, and visibly—you can make your name stand for everything you love and admire about Barnard.

In the days ahead, consider making a gift that will place your name at the center of Barnard’s campus, and will place you at the center of Barnard’s proud, ongoing history.

Nexus Technology Fund

The widespread application of advanced digital technology will enhance every aspect of living and learning in the new building. In the Nexus, the latest technology will be ever-present.  It will expedite discussion, creativity and design in multimedia-equipped art and architecture classrooms, while it provides customized sound and lighting in the black-box theater and special-event space. State-of-the-art technology will also control the building’s daylight dimming system and other energy-conservation systems, allowing Barnard to avoid wasteful consumption and substantially reduce energy costs.

The names of Tech Fund donors will appear on the donor wall in the lobby.

Study Carrels

Study carrels in an airy, sunlit reading room will offer students the privacy of individual, semi-enclosed study spaces, and the quiet company of classmates engaged in their own work. At these pleasant carrels, students will enjoy a perfectly balanced atmosphere of semi-seclusion and full intellectual community.

Buy a carrel for the reading room, and a plaque holding your name will be permanently affixed to this singularly important space.

$25,000

Computer Workstations

An empty seat at a running computer — it’s magnetic, universal in its utility and appeal, and rarely empty. In the Nexus, students will be drawn not only to the state-of-the-art, fully staffed computer lab in the third-floor study area, but also to comfortable computer workstations in the main-floor café.

Buy a computer workstation for the new building, and help ensure that the world is always at the fingertips of a Barnard student. A plaque with your name will be affixed to this workstation, reminding every user of the individual benefactor behind an infinite digital resource.
