Leadership Initiative (BLI)
Public speaking is a skill that can help you convey confidence and
charisma. In the workplace, it can help you persuade others, get their
attention and draw support for your ideas. We don’t all have this skill
naturally, but it is one that can be learned. The objective of this
workshop is to help you demonstrate the attitude and self-confidence of
good public speakers, establish a rapport with your audience, use your
voice and gestures to add impact to your presentation, and handle
questions with self-assuredness and calm.
Marika Becz is a professional actor, voice-over artist, and
free-lance voice/movement/acting and dialects coach. She teaches in the
undergraduate theatre department at NYU at Playwrights Horizons Theatre
School, and is also a public speaking coach for interview techniques,
business plan presentations, and effective self-presentation and
marketing. She works directly with the office of Career Development at
Barnard to bring empowering Public Speaking workshops to campus.
