Faculty Bio:
Professor Makkai received her BA in mathematics and philosophy from McGill University in 1990 and her PhD from Harvard in 2001. She is particularly interested in the reception of Kant's work by contemporary and twentieth-century European and Anglo-American philosophers. She is currently writing a book on Kant's aesthetics that is guided by this interest. Subjects of her future research and teaching include Wittgenstein and Heidegger on meaning and normativity, and issues in agency theory and moral psychology, film, and feminism.
