Adjunct Assistant Professor, Lab in Molecular Biology
Barnard College is seeking an individual to teach a Laboratory in Molecular Biology course during the Spring 2010 semester. This lab course covers basic techniques in molecular biology at the junior/senior level; previous manuals and procedures are available. Applicants are expected to have acquired a Ph.D. prior to January 2010 and teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Postdoctoral Research Scientist
We invite applications for a postdoctoral research scientist to work in the area of black holes and gravitational wave astrophysics at Barnard College, Columbia University, to begin in September 2010 for a 2 year appointment. Assistant Professor

Professor in the field of Islam. The area of specialization (e.g., historical period,
geographical region, theoretical/methodological approach) is open, but the
successful candidate will be conversant in broad questions that currently animate
the academic study of religion, including theoretical and comparative concerns,

Associate Director – Writing Program
The Associate Director oversees and implements new programming and writing initiatives for ESL students and students underprepared for college writing and provides support for faculty and departments working with these populations. The Associate Director will oversee the curriculum for Barnard’s developmental writing courses and work in conjunction with the Writing Center to make sure that students are receiving as much support as needed. Additionally, the Associate Director will support the Higher Education Opportunity Program’s summer program and work with admissions to identify incoming students who would benefit from increased support. The Associate Director will work with the college to both individually work with students and institutionally support internationalization efforts. This non-tenure full-time post includes teaching responsibilities (including First-Year English and lower- and upper-level composition courses) and service responsibilities. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or be ABD and have had prior experience working in a Writing Center (preferably administrative experience), experience working with ESL and developmental writers, and experience teaching composition courses. Additionally, candidate must demonstrate ability and enthusiasm to initiate programs that link writing to identity and diversity in an effort to support campus-wide diversity efforts. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations required.
