 Arsha
Vidya Gurukulum, a Vedanta teaching center with the only temple
in the United States dedicated to Lord Daksinamurti, rests
at the bottom of a forested valley hugged by the gentle Pocono
mountains of eastern Pennsylvania. The local setting evokes
the romantic image of an isolated
forest dwelling where accomplished teachers--Vedic sages--reveal
to a select group of students the secrets of the spiritual
life. Arsha Vidya cultivates this ideal, but reaches out to
a much broader public. If offers a variety of retreats and
teaching programs, and serves as a place where yoga and Indian
dance can also be learned. Visitors come not only from the
greater New York area but from the Northeast in general.
