How to Print From Your Room
You may send printing jobs from your networked personal computer
to be printed on a lab NINJa printer. You must physically
go to the lab to enter your password into the NINJa computer
in order for your documents to print. Any jobs that are left
unverified by password will be deleted after 2 hours.
Visit the CUIT
instructions for step by step instructions on setting
up your personal computer to print to NINJa printers. This
page has not been updated yet for Windows Vista, so if you
are running Vista and would like to set up printing from
your room, please follow the instructions below or contact
us.
How to Set-up NINJA Printing on Windows Vista
- Go to Control Panel and navigate to "Printers."
- Choose "Add Printer."
- In the "Add Printer" Wizard, choose "Add a Local
Printer."
- Select Create a new port, and, from the pull-down menu,
choose LPR Port.
- If the option for LPR port does not appear, you must
enable it, by going to Control Panel and then "Programs and
Features." Click Turn Windows features on or off. In the
scrolling list of items, click on the + sign in front of
Print Services and check the box for LPD Print Service and
LPR Port Monitor. Click OK to install the extra services.
Click OK to close the Features window. Click OK to close the
Programs and Features window. Return to step 4 above.
- Once the LPR Port option has been selected, click Next.
- The "Name or Address of Server Providing lpd" and "Name
of printer or print queue on that server" can be found
on the Ninja Printing Locations page. Example: For printer LCC B the entry is
"lcc100b-ninja.barnard.edu" and the name is "Public"
- For driver, see our page for download instructions!
- In the Add Printer Set-up choose this new driver, and
doing a test page is also recommended (on the page where you
find printer information if you click "view" next to the
printer you can see what is in the line for that Printer.)
- Finish Set-up!
Missing the Driver for the Lab Printers?
If you do not see the HP laserjet driver listed in
your print menu, go to the HP website for the
HP 4350 and the
HP 9050 and scroll down to view a list of two software/driver
descriptions. Click on the "download" button, save the installation
file to your computer, and run the installation. The printer
should now show up in your list of available printers.
Printing on Both Sides
To print on both sides of the paper, continue to the end of the
CUIT NINJA Printing Instructions
for your operating system. Instructions also vary by printer and program.
