He received his Ph.D in Romance Languages and Literatures from Harvard University in 1979 and has taught in the Department since 1975.

He is the author of Kingship and Tyranny in the Theater of Guilln de Castro and co-author of Facetas: Conversación y redacción. He has also written articles on Golden Age theater and language pedagogy. He writes monthly video-viewing materials for Spanish TV-Magazine and is the video/film review editor for the Northeast Conference Newsletter.

Besides coordinating the basic language sequence, he also teaches "Advanced Oral and Written Spanish", "An Introduction to Spanish Theater", "Special Issues in Contemporary Spain", and two courses --one in Spanish and one in English -- on gay and lesbian representations in Hispanic literature and film. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.

His current work consists of preparing Web-based communciative materials for the teaching of Spanish.
