Mabel Cuesta received an BA from the University of Havana (Cuba), in Philology (1999). She holds an MA in Hispanic Languages and Literatures (2001) from the Complutense University of Madrid. She is a current student in the Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Languages and Literatures Program at The Graduate Center (CUNY).
In 1999 Prof. Cuesta began his career as Instructor of both Spanish as a Second Language and Literature at the University of Matanzas, where she designed courses such as “Advanced Written Communication” ; “Advanced Oral Communication” and “Twentieth-Century Women's Writing in Latin America”.
Prof. Cuesta moved to New York City in 2006. Before coming to Barnard, she taught at Instituto Cervantes, Hunter College and Baruch College where she is still teaching. At these institutions she designed new syllabi for the Spanish Program, with special emphasis on Spanish through Content (Literature and Women Studies which is her specialization).
At Barnard, she has taught Elementary Spanish I and Intermediate Spanish II.
