Is an uncircumcised penis dirty or unhealthy?

The idea that an uncircumcised penis is dirty or unhealthy is a myth. Circumcision is the cutting off of the fold of skin that normally covers the glans of the penis. While the vast majority of the world's population is uncircumcised, the greater majority of American parents choose to circumcise their sons. Parents who opt to circumcise usually have a certain motivating factor, for example:

Religious reasons: many parents think of circumcision as a covenant with God.

Social Convention: probably the most common reason in the United States why parents choose to circumcise is because the father of the child is circumcised. Some parents worry about their child having negative feelings about themselves because they are different from their peers.

To be "clean": It is NOT true that an uncircumcised penis has a higher risk of infection than an uncircumcised one. It is important to wash with mild soap underneath the foreskin to prevent smega, a natural secretion of skin cells and oils. It is very easy to keep clean, and as with all penises, normal hygiene is essential.

Finally, the foreskin exists for protective, sensory, and sexual reasons and it is completely normal, natural, and healthy for a man not to be circumcised. Don't forget to pull back the foreskin before rolling on the condom!
