WELLNESS FLOORS

Wellness is a holistic way of thinking about health. The many dimensions of our lives work together to create a wholly integrated human being. It helps to put our lives in perspective to realize that we are part of a larger community. To be a fully healthy person is to gain the ability to balance mind, body, and spirit.

What can I expect from living in a Wellness Community?

  • Your experience to be rich in opportunity to participate in a wide variety of health-related programs


  • To live with other students who share your commitment to the connection of mind, body, and spirit


  • Your RA and a Well-Woman Peer Educator to collaborate in bringing lively and informative programs that span the wellness wheel to your floor


  • Community bulletin boards to reflect the shared interest in living a healthy lifestyle - for example, nutrition, exercise, sexual health, and stress management


  • To utilize the Well-Woman Office as a resource

Past programs include:

  • yoga workshops
  • nutrition and healthy meal planning
  • a Night of Sensual Delight
  • Breast Cancer Walk and ribbon-making
  • attending The Vagina Monologues
  • special Barnard Weight Room Orientation Session
  • self-defense
  • meditation practice

Living in a Wellness Community, it is your responsibility to:

  • Be an active member of the community


  • Attend programs that are offered by your RA and Well-Woman Peer Educator


  • Participate in community service


  • Strive toward developing a healthier lifestyle

How can I apply to live on a Wellness Floor?

Applying to live on a Wellness Floor is easy, whether you're a new or returning student! On your Residential Life housing application form, make sure to check the box next to "Yes, I would like to live in a wellness floor." You will be notified of your selection when you receive your housing assignments. Stay tuned for more information on how to select a wellness floor when applying for housing through suite selection.
